Who We Are

True North College is a two year, church based, non traditional christian college and an accredited member of TACI (Transworld Accrediting Commission International).

True North College has been designed to serve both continuing education students as well as traditional students.

We are a ministry of True North Church. This gives our students unique access to many practical ministry opportunities that a vibrant church has to offer. Students will also have the opportunity to sit under the teaching of faculty who are both scholars and practitioners who teach leadership courses in a way that emphasizes real life application of scripture.

Philosophy

The kingdom of God grows through reproduction and multiplication (Matthew 28:18-20; Matthew 25:14-29). Leaders must identify (Luke 6:12-13), equip (Matthew 11:1), and release (Matthew 10:1) new leaders. Leaders equip leaders who then equip other leaders; this is how the body of Christ grows (Ephesians 4:11-12; 2 Timothy 2:2).

The training experience should reflect this dynamic. Trainers should be leaders and trainees should be prospective leaders. Course content and course requirements should develop leaders to both lead themselves toward God and lead others to Him.

Vision

Identified leaders, who are equipped for leadership,
are then released to serve as leaders.

Mission

We look to identify leaders through making available a training program in which they can enroll and be equipped through study and practice in route to graduating into leadership positions in the Church and in the wider scope of society. 

Purpose

The purpose behind the vision is to offer potential leaders an avenue through which they can express their personal desire to know God and their ministerial desire to lead others in knowing God.

Strategy

TEACHING students about leadership - Students learn leadership principles from what is taught in the classroom where the process of teaching/leading is modeled by the instructor.

TRAINING students how to lead – Students practice leadership (self-leadership and leadership of others) as they complete their assignments.

EQUIPPING students to be resourced leaders – Students go forth with leadership tools (including teaching materials used to teach them) that they can use to teach/lead others.

Distinctives

Three tracks of study are designed to make a way for students who have different motivations or goals with respect to leadership to still have a place in True North College.

Students who want to be led and lead themselves (Certificate in Biblical Studies track) can take the equivalent of 30 credit hours of courses that include academic evaluation for credit.

Students who want to be led, lead themselves, and lead others (Diploma in Practical Theology track) can take the equivalent of 60 credit hours of courses that include academic evaluation and ministry leadership evaluation for credit.

Students who want to be led, lead themselves, and lead others (Diploma in Ministry Leadership track) can take the equivalent of 60 credit hours of courses that include academic evaluation and ministry leadership evaluation for credit.

True North Church

Statement of Faith

I. We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, inerrant in the original writings, complete in its revelation and final in its content.

II. We believe in the Trinity.  God is One and He has revealed Himself in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

III. We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, the God Man, who was born of a Virgin, lived on this earth in the flesh, died on the cross for our salvation, rose from the dead, is seated at the right hand of the Father, and who will come again to judge the living and the dead.

IV. We believe that all men have sinned and are completely and hopelessly lost if not for God’s divine intervention.  This intervention has its climax in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ who is God’s unique and free provision for salvation.  No man can be saved outside of this provision which is received by faith.

V. We believe that the Church is the body of Christ and that the ministry of Christ continues through His people by the power of the Holy Spirit.  This power is designed to assist His people in both word and deed and has as its ultimate purpose
